The University of Sheffield has been named 11th out of 250 universities in Europe in the new Times Higher Education Europe Teaching Rankings.

The new Teaching Rankings placed the University joint ninth in the UK. The league table measures the quality of university teaching, focusing on student engagement, interaction with teachers and how the University prepares students for life after university.

President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Keith Burnett said: “This wonderful result reflects not only dedicated teaching but the way staff work with students to challenge and inspire, listening to their concerns and seeking new ways to connect what they are learning to the challenges they will face after graduation.”

The University of Sheffield’s performance is based on detailed answers given in the European Student Survey. It recorded 30,000 student responses in more than 10 European countries. They ranked the University especially high for successful student progress and engagement.

The University also ranked 13th in the UK and 75th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2019, strengthening its reputation as a leading teaching and research university.
