Study at the English Language Training Centre

We teach our English programmes in partnership with the English Language Training Centre (ELTC) at the University of Sheffield. It is the perfect place for you to prepare for living, as well as studying, in Sheffield.

The purpose-built facility has modern classrooms, well-equipped computer suites, and advanced learning resources.

Experienced staff teach you language to help you in your social life as well as your academic life. Many of them are IELTS examiners. They understand the training and guidance you need to succeed.

  • Cambridge English has authorised the ELTC as an exam centre and for teaching awards.

Course content

Lectures give you a fantastic opportunity to practice your listening and note-taking skills. You will be part of a larger class group for lectures. Tutorials are perfect for reflecting on your learning and monitoring your progress. You will be in a smaller group for these classes. Topics you will cover include grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Learn skills such as:

  • Contributing to a discussion
  • Presentation
  • Structuring your work
  • Planning longer assignments
  • Organisation and time management
  • Technology for language learning.

No delay to your degree studies

If you complete your pathway and pass your assessments you will progress to your chosen bachelors or masters degree in September 2018.
