The University of Sheffield International College offers unparalleled student support. We have over 200 members of staff dedicated to supporting your success while you’re studying here at the College. Our highly qualified academic staff are experts in teaching students from across the world. You will have an academic tutor who will advise you on your strengths and areas for development throughout your programme. The Students' Union also has an International Officer ready to provide advice and support if you need it.

Adapt to studying in English

You’ll need to be able to learn your chosen subject in English with confidence. You may find you need time to get used to new ways of teaching and more independent learning. And you have to do all of this while getting used to how things work in a foreign country, far from home. This is why we are here to help you get used to you new surroundings. We have an experienced team offering international students support and guidance every step of the way.

University of Sheffield is among the top 10 most targeted UK universities by top employers (High Fliers Research 2022). At the International College, you’ll receive help to identify and develop your employability skills during your International Foundation Year or Pre-Masters programme. When you progress to your degree, you will be able to take advantage of the University’s Careers Service. It can help you to:

  • Produce the perfect online CV and job applications.

Student agreement

The Student Agreement is there to make sure you get the most out of your time at the College. It is a set of guiding principles for students and staff. It includes what we expect from you while you are studying and what you can expect from us. You’ll also find your study plan and any progression requirements you need to meet. 

Personalised tuition

The International College offers small class sizes, personalised tuition and friendly helpful support, both in the College and via the Virtual Learning Environment. You’ll have the individual attention you need to keep you on track and give you the confidence you need to succeed.

Harald's story - Becoming a pilot

From the moment you confirm your place, you will be part of the Big Sheffield Welcome. Arrival events, tours and activities will be available to help you get settled in, as well as orientation to make sure you complete all the steps of enrolment. This support will continue throughout your time at the International College, as you work towards progressing to the University.
