Accommodation

When you’re not busy studying or socialising, you’ll need somewhere to call home. Sheffield has a range of options within walking distance of the International College.

Student accommodation in Sheffield

Many people find they meet lifelong friends when living in student accommodation. It is a part of student life and a big step in finding your independence after living at home.

While studying a programme at the International College, you can choose to live in University-managed accommodation at St Vincent's Place or have the option to arrange your own accommodation independently.

Which accommodation is right for you?

Your accommodation options will vary depending on when you will be starting at the International College. These accommodation options are perfectly located and surrounded by everything you will need whilst studying in Sheffield.

For students studying at the University of Sheffield International College, we offer University-managed accommodation at St Vincent's Place.

Please note: all under 18s are offered University managed residences as long as there is availability (see below for more information).

Once you are enrolled on your course, our Central Student Support Team will contact you with more information about the accommodation.

Born in Russia. Made in Sheffield.

My first friends here were people from other rooms in my block. On the first day we all were a bit shy because we had just moved in and were missing our homes. But after a few days we became really close; we spent time together, we went to Meadowhall to play some games and after a few weeks we became really close friends and we can share our thoughts, share our problems and do things together.

St Vincent's Place

Located in the heart of the city, near the main campus and next to the International College, St Vincent’s Place is our University-managed development which incorporates a beautifully renovated church. The church is now a place to socialise, offering a café, cinema room, games and a shared kitchen. There is also a Residence Life Mentor to help you settle into life in the UK through organised social activities and student support.

Our Accommodation Commitment

To provide assurance of accommodation availability, we have introduced an Accommodation Commitment.  So students can be sure of getting a room offer.

To be eligible for our Accommodation Commitment and secure a formal room offer, students need to complete the following simple steps:

Return your Acceptance Form to confirm your study offer, and make applicable payments, by 28th July 2023 (5pm UK time) to be eligible for a room offer and receive personalised instructions on how to apply.

You will then need to apply for their accommodation by 2nd of August 2023 (5pm UK time) using the instructions and process provided for their Centre. Students will then receive a formal room offer.

Once you have your room offer, you need to complete the application process within the specific time frames provided in order to secure your room.

We have good availability of accommodation for students starting programmes in September and October 2023. So if you miss these deadlines, accommodation may still be available, but please note it will be on a first-come-first served basis.

The Accommodation Commitment applies to courses starting in September and October 2023 only. Rooms are generally allocated on a first come first served basis however specific groups may be prioritised where appropriate, such as students with specific medical conditions or those aged under 18. Students under 18 years of age may be limited to specific accommodation types.

Arranging your own accommodation privately

We highly recommend the University-managed accommodation to all of our students. However, students studying at the International College do also have the option to arrange their own private accommodation. If you choose to do this, it is important that you let us know where you are staying and that this must be less than 60 minutes away from the College. We also advise that you arrange your accommodation as soon as you confirm your place; we can assist you during this process, just ask your agent or advisor.

Look out for fraud

Scammers may specifically target international students so it is important to be able to recognise common signs of fraudulent activity and know what to do if you come across it. Let us know at fraudreporting@studygroup.com if you have any concerns about fraudulent activity when dealing with a private accommodation provider so that we can help to protect you and other international students in case they are targeted in the same way.

Important information

We strongly recommend that all under 18s live in University-managed accommodation, St Vincent's Place. If you are younger than 18 years old when you start your programme, you are guaranteed a room in St Vincent's Place as long as there is availability. You'll be placed with students of a similar age group where possible and benefit from specific services available to support younger residents, as well as quick and easy access to the College team.

Students who are 18 years old or over are invited to University managed or third party managed accommodation depending on availability. Once students are confirmed on their course they will be sent information on the accommodation available for their intake.
