Why the International College?

The International College gives you the perfect introduction to studying abroad. We teach more than 1,000 students every year, preparing them for the challenges of studying at a top-ranking Russell Group University.

For many international students, studying abroad brings some challenges that need a little extra support. Staff and students talk about the benefits of studying at the International College in this video.

Programmes are developed in collaboration with academics from the University, so you will know what to expect during your degree.

Settle in and gain in confidence

You’ll need to be able to learn your chosen subject in English with confidence. You may find you need time to get used to new ways of teaching and more independent learning. And you have to do all of this while getting used to how things work in a foreign country, far from home. This is why we are here to help you get used to you new surroundings.

We work closely with the University to develop programmes that best prepare you for your degree, and to make sure you have all the support you need to progress.

Conditional offer from the University

An offer to study at the College is also a conditional offer to study at the University, on completing the course and meeting progression requirements – you don't need to apply through UCAS.

Ideal location

The campus is set around the city centre, with all departments just a short walking distance from each other, or a very short ride on the bus or tram.

Investing in your future

We are continually investing to provide you with the perfect environment for success. The International College is in one of the newer buildings on the campus. The Diamond building, opened in 2015, provides undergraduate teaching spaces for the Faculty of Engineering as well as facilities for students from the rest of the University. There is regular investment in the buildings across the campus to make sure you'll have the best facilities.

Inspiring learning environment

You will have 24-hour access to the innovative Information Commons - a multi-purpose learning environment and library. Each University learning space has been created to suit student and teacher needs. These range from a lecture theatre in a historical church to state-of-the-art facilities.
