Boost your English language skills before your course

We also offer courses to help you achieve the necessary English language level needed to start any of our academic courses.  If you need to increase your Academic IELTS for UKVI** score to start studying with us, you can take one, two or three terms of these courses to achieve this.

 

ELP Key Facts

Course length: One or two terms

Entry points: September, March or June

Age on entry: Students will normally be 17 years of age or above

Term dates

Before International Foundation Year

You will need Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0** or equivalent in order to begin the international foundation year (three term programme).*

If you need additional language training before you start your international foundation year, you can join our English Language Preparation programme (ELP). This is taught in partnership with the University’s English Language Teaching Centre.

The course will improve your English language skills to the necessary level equivalent of Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0**.

At the end of your ELP programme, you will start the international foundation year, providing you have achieved the required module grades.

*Students wishing to progress to Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Journalism and Psychology programmes at the University will require an English level of IELTS 0.5 or equivalent higher than that listed above for entry to their programme at the College.

Term dates

Before Pre-Masters

You will need Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5** or equivalent in order to begin the pre-masters programme (three term programme). * 

If you need additional language training before you start your pre-masters, you can join our intensive English for Pre-Masters programme (EPM). This is taught in partnership with the University’s English Language Teaching Centre.

The course will improve your English language skills to the necessary level equivalent of Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5**.

This module will prepare you to take an Academic IELTS for UKVI** exam in order to achieve the English requirement for the following three terms of study.

*Students wishing to progress to Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Journalism and Psychology programmes at the University will require an English level of IELTS 0.5 or equivalent higher than that listed above for entry to their programme at the College.
