Christmas Market

Most cities in the UK have Christmas markets at this time of year, selling traditional gifts, crafts, and food and drink like mulled wine, mince pies, gingerbread and Christmas pudding. Sheffield has its own Christmas market in the city centre, with over 40 market traders hand picked from all over Europe and the UK, delivering a whole host of unique products and international cuisine. With stalls set up in traditional wooden cabins, and a funfair for all to enjoy, it makes for an atmospheric place to stock up on traditional Christmas goodies.

Sheffield Christmas Market takes place from Friday 13 November to Thursday 24 December.

Get your skates on at Meadowhall

When the weather turns frosty, make the most of the ice and get skating. Every winter, the external Oasis Courtyard at the Meadowhall Centre is transformed into a magical igloo ice skating rink. Whether you love to skate or have never tried it before, we guarantee you’ll have loads of fun. Head down to skate along to festive tunes right in the heart of the city.

Meadowhall on Ice takes place from daily from Sunday 1 November until Tuesday 5th January 2016.

The Nutcracker

Tchaikovsky’s festive ballet comes to Sheffield courtesy of the St Petersburg Classic Ballet, on this their first UK tour. With fabulous costumes, an enchanting tale of a little girl’s magical journey into becoming a Princess, and a fabulous musical score performed live by a full orchestra, it’s an unmissable treat that will keep you in the festive mood well in to January.

The Nutcracker takes place at the Lyceum from Tuesday 5 to Saturday 9 January 2016.
